What is Question 1?

The state of Maine approved same-sex marriage earlier this year. However, this September, the Maine Secretary of State certified that opponents had collected enough signatures to place their referendum repealing marriage equality on the November 3 ballot. It is Question 1, and if we allow it to pass, same-sex couples in Maine would lose their civil right to marry. We don’t want a repeat of Prop. 8, which is why we are organizing volunteers to go to Maine and help organize to keep marriage equality. The elections are slated for November 3 and we are encouraging people to vote early.
